NO DRAMA and DEMOCRACY

DRAMA

confrontation and pretense
to achieve our personal objectives
within social, business, family, romantic, and political relationships.

COMMON DRAMA BEHAVIOR

Verbally and loudly attack opponents

Belittle and misrepresent character of opponents

Exaggerate and disguise unfavorable information

Distort and deny obvious truth, or tell outright lies

Ignore and shut down reasonable conversation

Falsely rant of unfair treatment

GOALS OF DEMOCRACY
, which appear in the preamble to our U.S. Constitution,
are the benefits derived from effective democratic practice.

PRIMARY GOALS OF OUR AMERICAN DEMOCRACY

Unity over separateness and divisiveness

Justice and fairness over inequality

Tranquility over self-destructiveness

Common Defense and protection over individualism

General Welfare over selfishness

Liberty over oppression

GREATEST THREATS TO EFFECTIVE DEMOCRACY

Counterproductive congressional norms and practices

Unbridled capitalist greed limiting widespread economic opportunity

Increasing human selfishness lending to citizen complacency

Ideologically “right” and “left” extremism encouraging volatile conflicts

Diminishing public education and little understanding of democracy

Everything’s a crisis mentality with a pattern of panic responses

Impatient demand for government solutions but disregard of necessary taxation
